I am happy to share that a new paper I am co-author on is out on the journal Trends in Ecology and Evolution. In a paper I led in 2016, we showed that IUCN extinction risk estimates could benefit from using updated geospatial data. Here, we come together to describe a new metric for IUCN Red List assessments called "Area of Habitat" (AOH). It refined the range by elevation and habitat, giving a more accurate area of possible presence for species. We look forward to seeing this metric used by everyone. Read the paper here! (or email me for a copy if you don't have access)
