New paper on the impacts of oil palm on Colombia's biodiversity

With colleagues from the ETH Zurich, where I currently do a postdoc, and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, we just published a short article quantifying the impacts of oil palm plantations on Colombia's threatened biodiversity. We found that the overlpa between plantations and threatened vertebrates is small and spatially clustered. We highlight areas where expansion could occur at low conservation cost, and those that should be spared of expansion. There are many other factors to consider for expansion, but as far as threatened vertebrates go, expansion can occur with little impact.
